This morning my daughter Noel woke up and asked if we could make pancakes for breakfast. Cooking together is one of our favorite mother daughter activities so I always look forward to this time. Recently I have decided to make healthier choices in eating, and that decision has reduced the amount of pancakes and other delicious foods that have been created in our kitchen. Noel asked if I would be eating of the pancakes, and I said it would be fun just to make them for her.
To be completely honest I have felt stuck in the kitchen recently. So many of the things I have enjoyed making and sharing with family and friends in the past are not part of a healthy lifestyle change I am trying to live into. Noel suggested we look for a whole grain recipe online so we could make pancakes we both could enjoy together, as long as she could sprinkle hers with chocolate chips. Within seconds we found a recipe and headed downstairs. We found all the ingredients and got started. Everything was going great until Noel realized we had no chocolate chips! After a brief moment of feeling stuck, I suggested we take a square of dark chocolate and chop it up into small pieces in place of chocolate chips. The result was a delicious and healthy breakfast.
It is so easy to feel stuck in the world. There is always another choice waiting for us to find through the actions and inspiration of others. We were beautifully created by God. If we truly desire to live our lives to the fullest we must rely on Christ and others. What parts of your lives need to be unstuck by the inspiration of Christ and others in your life?
